By using the Service, you confirm that:

• you will comply with applicable law when using the Service

If you are using the Service on behalf of another person or entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that person or entity to these Terms.

Who May Use the Service

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

You may not use the Service if applicable law prohibits you from doing so.

Account Responsibilities

Some features require an account. When you create and use an account, you agree to:

• provide accurate, current, and complete information
• keep your information updated
• maintain the security of your account and credentials
• accept responsibility for activity under your account
• notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised

You may not impersonate another person, share your account credentials, or access another user's account without permission.

House Rules is a household coordination app. Depending on the features we make available, the Service may allow users to:

• create an account using email and password, Sign in with Apple, or supported third-party sign-in providers
• create or join a household using invite codes and join approval flows
• create, review, accept, and propose household rules
• create, assign, rotate, complete, verify, pass, pick up, edit, and delete chores
• receive activity updates and push notifications related to household activity
• manage profile information and account settings

Service Changes

We may add, remove, modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, to the extent permitted by law.

Important Limitation

The Service is provided for organization and communication only. It is not legal advice, property-management software, emergency-response software, or a substitute for independent agreements among roommates, family members, landlords, or tenants.

House Rules is designed for shared household use. When you create or join a household, you understand that information you submit within that household may be visible to other household members.

This may include:

• your name and profile details
• household rules and rule proposals
• chore assignments, chore notes, pass reasons, verification actions, and proposal activity
• household activity records generated through use of the Service

Household Decisions

Household decisions, approvals, proposals, and disputes are made by users, not by us. We are not responsible for disputes between roommates, family members, household members, guests, landlords, tenants, or other third parties.

What Counts as User Content

You may submit content to the Service, including profile information, household names, rules text, suggestions, chore titles, notes, pass reasons, and other related content ("User Content").

Ownership

You retain ownership of your User Content.

License to Us

By submitting User Content through the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, modify, display, transmit, and otherwise use that User Content as necessary to operate, provide, maintain, improve, secure, and support the Service.

Your Promises About User Content

You represent and warrant that:

• you have the right to submit the User Content
• your User Content does not violate any law or third-party right
• your User Content does not contain material that is unlawful, abusive, infringing, or otherwise prohibited by these Terms

Removal of Content

We may remove, restrict, review, or preserve User Content if we believe it violates these Terms, applicable law, or the safety or integrity of the Service.

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not:

• use the Service in a way that violates any law or regulation
• harass, threaten, abuse, stalk, exploit, or harm another person
• submit unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, hateful, obscene, infringing, or otherwise objectionable content
• impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or household affiliation
• interfere with another user's use of the Service
• introduce malware, malicious code, or other harmful material
• use bots, scrapers, or unauthorized automation to access the Service
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, device, network, or part of the Service
• reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract source code from the Service except to the extent permitted by applicable law

Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

By using the Service, you acknowledge that we may collect, use, store, and disclose information as described in the Privacy Policy.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, you agree that we may send you service-related communications, including notifications about household activity, join requests, approvals, chores, and rule changes.

You can manage notifications through your device settings and any in-app settings we provide.

We may investigate reports and take action we consider appropriate, including:

• content removal
• feature restrictions
• account suspension
• account termination

You may stop using the Service at any time.

Where the Service provides household exit or household deletion functions, you may use them subject to the Service's permissions and technical limits.

If the Service offers account creation, we will provide a way for users to initiate account deletion in accordance with applicable law and applicable platform requirements.

When an account is deleted, we will delete or de-identify personal data where required and feasible. We may retain limited information where retention is required or permitted by law, needed for security or fraud prevention, needed for dispute resolution, or necessary to maintain the integrity of shared household records.

The Service and its original content, features, functionality, software, design, branding, and materials other than User Content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property and other applicable laws.

Except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, publicly display, or create derivative works from the Service.

The Service may rely on third-party services and infrastructure, including authentication, cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting, and messaging providers.

We do not guarantee that:

• the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• household content, chore records, proposals, or notifications will always be accurate, complete, or timely

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR USE ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IF YOU PAID US FEES SPECIFICALLY FOR THE SERVICE, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations or exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless House Rules and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, licensors, and service providers from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or related to:

• your use of the Service
• your User Content
• your violation of these Terms
• your violation of any law or third-party right

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if:

• you violate these Terms
• your conduct harms other users or the Service
• we are required to do so by law or to protect the Service or third parties

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

If you downloaded the iOS app through the Apple App Store, you acknowledge and agree that:

• These Terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content.
• Your license to use the iOS app is limited to use on Apple-branded products that you own or control, subject to the App Store usage rules.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for the Service.
• To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the Service.
• We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the Service, including product liability claims, claims that the Service fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar laws.
• We, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any third-party claim that the Service or your use of the Service infringes that third party's intellectual property rights.
• You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you as they relate to the iOS app.
